FREE Disney Writing Activity

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday

This particular FREE writing activity would work for me in my special education middle school class but is probably a bit young for most middle school classrooms.  (Although I have known some students in the middle who enjoy this type of thing!)

What is this FREE activity, you ask?  Your students can send letters to the their favorite Disney characters and later receive reply postcards!

Here's how it works:
1.  Have the students plan and write a friendly letter to their favorite Disney character.
  • Brainstorm attributes of the characters and what they like about their characters.
  • Go over the parts of a friendly letter
  • Write a rough draft
  • Peer edit with special attention to the parts of a friendly letter, capitalization and end punctuation.
  • Write a final copy on pretty paper.
  • Address the envelope (see the next step for addresses.)

2.  Address the letter to Disney World to the following address:

Walt Disney World Communications
P.O. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

Address the letters to Disneyland to the following address:

Walt Disney Company
Attn: Fan Mail Department
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521

3.  Mail the letter and wait for a reply!  :)
